Kolcraft Contour Double Stoller
A consumer's review of a double stroller for use with children up to forty pounds.
"It" is the ultimate stroller. The Kolcraft Countour double stroller, to be exact. I saw it in a magazine and did some research. I hadn't heard anything negative, except that it was big. (It's a double stroller. I should hope that it would be big!) It does neat tricks, too. You can use a car seat adapter while your child is still in an infant seat (an extra adapter can be purchased separately, if twins are involved), or you can use the two big-kid seats that are included. The two seats can face in, face out, face front, or both face you.
Although it takes a little bit of time to get ready at each stop, it doesn't take as long as a lot of other double strollers I've seen. The front seat, and maybe the back one too, needs to be removed when putting it back into the car. Because of that, it fits into trunk space well for its unfolded size. Once you get used to opening and closing it, it is simple to use. All baby stuff requires some studying.
It comes in pieces, and putting it together may take some time. I put it together pregnant, and I suffered from severe mommy-brain, so I'm pretty sure that most people can figure it out. Some stores offer a service to put it together for you.
I'm a walker, so I use this thing A LOT. The color is nice. It's bright red (but not fire engine-red) and black. The color combo gives it the driver the feeling that it may just be cooler than a stroller is capable of being. The parent tray is quite handy, with two cup holders and a compartment that's just the right size for an i-Phone or wallet. It also has some big kid handles for older children to hold while walking. I wouldn't have thought that it would work, but a friend of mine has a child who refuses to ride in a stroller at the age of three, and he did a great job with the idea of having something to hold while walking next to me. Each seat has a weight capacity of forty pounds, so preschoolers who are willing should be fine riding along.
I highly recommend this stroller if you are going to need a double stroller for regular use. If you just need one for special trips, you may want to go with a simpler and less expensive solution. Overall, I am very pleased with its performance and design.
