The Life Story of Tila Tequila
Before becoming the well known performance artist and TV show star she is today, Tila "Tequila" Nguyen led an active conflict filled life. Raised in a Buddhist Temple by her Vietnamese parents, she fought through years of conflict before getting to where she is today.
In high school she started using her older sister's ID card to get into night clubs. Her experiments with clubbing introduced her to gangs, drugs etc. She later recalled going through identity problems during this time period. She made some friends who weren't part of her gang who helped her turn her life around. However, she could not fully escape her past, causing her to run away from home to New York City at age 16. These problems resolved themselves after she graduated from high school. One day at the mall she was discovered by a Playboy scout who tried to get her to pose for the magazine. At first she refused but after continued pressure from the magazine, she finally consented and then moved to West Hollywood where she quickly became a sensation. She became Playboy magazine's first Asian playboy girl of the week in 2002.
A musician at heart, Tila used her success at modeling as leverage for her later musical career. She started a band called Beyond Betty Jean in which she was the song writer and lead singer. After the breakup of that band, she founded another bad called Jealousy. Now she is signed to the Will.I.Am music group, a record label under A M; Records. Her newest single "I Love You" has become a major hit. In March of 2020 it was the most downloaded song on iTunes. She is probably best known for her appearances in Stuff, Maxim, Time Magazine, her role as host of the Fuse TV show Pants-Off Dance-Off and her position as the most popular person on MySpace as of April 2020.I n 2020 she started her own TV show, A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila, with a bisexually oriented theme. The show featured 16 straight men and 16 bisexual women all competing to win over Tila's affections. The twist was that none of the contenders knew about Tila's bisexual orientation until the end of the first season.
