Impressive Fireworks Displays at Local Baseball Games Fun for the Whole Family
The fireworks displays at NewBridge Bank Park, continue throughout August, and are an event worth seeing.
If you live in the North Carolina Triad area, I highly recommend that you catch a fireworks display at a Greensboro Grasshoppers' baseball game this summer. The July 4th fireworks display at NewBridge Bank Park was an event I will never forget. The event marked the first baseball game and first fireworks for my two year old son. He wasn't scared by the noise at all, and continues to talk about seeing fireworks and meeting "the green monster" (the 'Hopper's mascot, Guilford the Grasshopper).
Although The Grasshoppers are a minor league team (single A affiliate of the Florida Marlins), the fireworks display was as good or better than any fireworks event I've ever seen. This July 4th's fireworks, put on for Grasshoppers fans by Show Pros Entertainment Services, were nearly as good as more expensive, larger stadium displays I have seen. I saw some new types of rockets this year that I hadn't seen before in the 40 or so fireworks displays I've seen in my life. I fondly remember attending July 4th fireworks games during my childhood, at Shea Stadium to see the New York Mets. Those epic, 1980's displays were sponsored by Nynex Telephone and executed by Grucci, "America's First Family of Fireworks".
I didn't get to take any pictures of the July 4th display, since I was focused on enjoying the fireworks with my son, so I made sure to attend the next available fireworks game. Check out the pictures of the fireworks from July 15th following the Grasshopper's victory against the Charleston RiverDogs. Although the fireworks display of Saturday the 15th, as well as the remaining summer shows, was slightly shorter than the Independence Day event, it was just as spectacular in terms of the colors, fancy explosions, and excitement. In between Greensboro games, I travelled to Asheville to see the Tourists play at McCormick Field. Comparing fireworks displays between two single A baseball events, I can confidently say that the fireworks at NewBridge Bank park are above par.
Due to a rain delay before the game on the 4th, which chased away some fans, the attendance at the recent July 15th game was higher than the actual Independence Day attendance. The stadium fills up for fireworks events, so you may want to reserve tickets early. You won't regret an evening of Grasshoppers baseball and a great fireworks display.
